This 1930 outstanding Jewel, originally born as a hairpin/brooch, was bought by my grandfather at a jewellery auction in the 80's. It has been treasured in my family's safes for over 40 years.
Restyling a piece created by a master artistic jeweller almost 100 years ago is a task of unconceivable responsibility. It requires a lot of courage.
In the last few decades, many initial sketches were drawn to restyle the piece, first by my family and finally by me.
In 2015, I decided to restyle this art piece, honouring the timeless elegance of the original design, yet combining it with a more contemporary vision.
I re-thought the jewel with the image of a modern Queen in mind. Playful yet majestic.
When I expressed my intention with a highly conservative approach of converting the hairpin brooch into Cuff-earrings, two comments from my family were:
-
Are you sure?
-
Finally, someone brave enough or crazy enough. Show us the result when you have done, and we will decide if you are brave or crazy.
